Therapy for men in Seattle and across Washington State

By video, wherever you are in the state

On this page

Most of the men I see in Washington take an early session. My hours start at 6am Pacific, so it happens at the kitchen table or in a home office before anyone else is up, and it’s over before the commute starts.

Seattle is where I learned this work

I was born and raised in Seattle and lived there most of my life. I started out in community mental health at outpatient clinics across the Seattle area, and from 2022 to 2026 I was clinical director at Self Space, a group practice in Seattle and Kirkland. I moved to Rhode Island in 2023 and kept my Washington practice. The rest is on the about page.

If your divorce is in King County

If you or your spouse lives in Seattle, Bellevue, or Kirkland, the case is usually filed in King County Superior Court. A few parts of it shape the months ahead, and they’re worth knowing about early:

  • The parenting seminar. When you have children under 18, a local rule requires both parents to attend What About the Children, a class on how conflict between parents affects children. It’s currently held only online, by Zoom.
  • The Family Law Orientation. If you’re representing yourself, the court also requires its orientation.
  • Parenting plan mediation. When parents can’t agree on a parenting plan, the court’s Family Court Services offers mediation, priced on a sliding scale by income.
  • Help with forms. The court’s Family Law Facilitators will review forms you’ve filled out, though they can’t fill them out for you.

The court’s divorce, custody, and adoption page has the rest. For a divorce anywhere else in the state, the free guides and mediation centers are under Washington on resources.

None of that is therapy, and I’m not a lawyer. What we work on is you: the week the petition arrives, how to sit through a mediation without saying the thing you’ll regret, and what to tell your kids before anything is filed. Therapy for men going through divorce covers how I work on it.

You need to be in Washington for each session

My Washington license covers you while you’re physically in the state, wherever you live. Spokane or Bellingham counts as much as Seattle and the Eastside. If you live in Vancouver and work across the river in Portland, the session has to happen on the Washington side.

Questions people ask

Do you have an office in Seattle?

No. Every session is by video and there’s no physical office, in Washington or anywhere else.

Can I have a session while I travel?

Only from inside Washington. A session from a hotel in Yakima is fine; one from Portland or a work trip to California isn’t, even a single one. If you’ll be out of state, tell me ahead of time; the fees page has the cancellation policy.

Can I check your Washington license?

Yes. It’s MHC.LH.60643240, and the state’s provider credential search shows its status.

Can you help with my parenting plan or testify for me?

No. I don’t do forensic or court-related work, so I won’t write letters for your case or appear in court. What I don’t treat has the full list, and your attorney or Family Court Services is the place for those questions.

How we begin

Call, text, or email, and we’ll start with a 20-minute conversation about whether I can help.
